Who are the Mentors?
The mentors are Hungarian student volunteers who offer help to incoming foreign students and organize programs for them through ESN (Erasmus Student Network). At our faculty, there are around 70 enthusiastic mentors, coordinated by the Chief mentor, Orsi Pesthy.
What kinds of issues can a mentor help you with?
Moving abroad and getting used to the new environment can be difficult; a mentor is the person who helps make your time in Budapest easier and more enjoyable. Before your arrival, you can ask for advice from them about housing options, study administration issues and they will do their best to help you. Beside these issues, your mentor can also advise you about practical things like cheap grocery stores, transportation, doctor’s visit, coolest second hand shops and parties, or hang out with you in your freetime.
What kind of programs can you take part in?
There are several ESN programs throughout each semester, from which you’re guaranteed to find some that catch your interests. Pub crawls, Ice skating and Museum visits are only a few examples of the various activities we organize. We recommend you to join our Erasmus group called ELTE PPK Erasmus 2016 where we post informations about all the programs.
How can I apply for a mentor?
When you apply at ELTE PPK as a prospective Erasmus or full-time student, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a mentor. If you apply for one before you arrive to Budapest, your mentor will contact you through e-mail.
It is possible to sign up for a mentor later as well, after your arrival. All you have to do is drop an email to the following address, stating your name, home university, language and study area: ppk@elte.esn.hu .
